The AID Atlanta Evolution Center is a community center for young gay or same gender loving (SGL) black men ages 16-28. The Evolution Center’s primary purpose is to offer a safe space and programs that serve as an investment in the individual by addressing the needs of young gay/same gender loving black men in Atlanta. The Evolution Center and its programs were created using the evidence-based intervention MPowerment, initiated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Evolution Center is designed to empower young black gay men and provide HIV/STD risk reduction skills while building, supporting and enhancing their self-actualization. The program also seeks to encourage greater levels of civic and community involvement.
The Evolution Mission:
The mission of the Evolution Center is to empower young black gay men who face challenges as a result of racism, homophobia, poverty, HIV/AIDS, unemployment, illiteracy, substance use, and spiritual persecution. In the creation of this safe space that fosters growth and development, young black gay men will obtain the tools to be healthy, productive citizens. |
